How it works
Ozempic is a once-weekly semaglutide injection for people with type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide, the active ingredient, is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide) receptor agonist.
Ozempic helps you lose weight by:
- Slowing down digestion, so you’re full faster
- Stimulating the pancreas to release insulin after your meal to control your blood sugar
- Signals the brain to lower your appetite
In clinical studies, semaglutide has been shown to help users lose up to 20% of their body weight, when paired with exercise and a nutritious diet.
